The Imitation Game 2014

1211th movie, 296th from 2010s, 406th on Netflix

Rating: 8/10

Distraction rating: 6/10

This is our second viewing of this film ever. The first time I watched it was in 2017, a different life ago.

I suppose as the first movie to review on this, it is not a bad choice. Pure hazard, as is most of the movies we watch in the RNG.

I also should break away from the review to explain the RNG a little. The RNG was started on September 6th, 2021, by my friend and I as we were having trouble choosing movies to watch. The battle of choice was often complicated, and we were often watching the same movies and never taking a chance on something different.

The original list was titled “Halloweenithon,” as the list started our Halloween movie system. The original list was rather short but grew to a top 100 in no time. We left the selection of movies to chance. Which is how it became the RNG. The current list has over 500 movies waiting, although there are no guarantees that they are streaming. We have a top 100 that my friend roles with dice, and the list is on my end. This way, neither of us is choosing. I will share more details about the process with future movies.

I am not your typical reviewer. My love for movies is not elitist or artistic but in relation to my life and personal experiences. Often, my reviews will likely be short unless I have a lot to say.

The Imitation Game was a very Sherlock Cumberbatch who apparently played up the autism that may or may not have been accurate with the real Alan Turing.

Barring the historical inaccuracies, it was a very good movie. Which sadly did not distract me enough from my game, as someone who does multiple activities at once, there are some movies who will not let you because they keep your focus, this movie mostly did but not on the high end.

There was one real emotional scene near the end of the film that triggered a hint of a tear, but this movie was not a tear jerker.

There were plenty of great actors in this movie who were in films that I often enjoyed, and they were all living up to my expectation of them.

These reviews might get better… or maybe not, we will see as we continue to plough through movies. I do recommend watching this movie, though.
