This is one of our go-to movies when we are looking for an escape, and the RNG alone is not vibing. It is a really bad day escape movie.
This is a rather family safe movie, but I can not see children enjoying it. In the past, we would have called this a good in-flight movie, and actually, it would make for a great one still today.
It is definitely a boys’ movie, as mother would call it. Typical for many crime and heist films. It is also something of an all boys club, with the female element being more of a plot piece than an actual part of the cast. They are not even a sexualised plot piece. They are there just to give a little more spice to the story.
Most of the main cast are properly fleshed out, which is done pretty quickly, and it is appreciated to get the best feel for the people you will be rooting for. There are so many movies we have seen with less cast who leave so many undeveloped people.
I really enjoy this movie, I can not think of many other movies that can be shown to me and still find myself being invested in.
As mentioned, we have watched it at least 9 times as a part of RNG, which is since September 2021. This does not include the times we watched it before, easily at least 3 times a year. There are not many movies that can be watched so regularly.
Yes, there are issues with the movie, and the story is not completely original, but it is a lot of fun. I am looking forward to December when this movie comes back around.
It is a favourite with the Peanut Gallery, too, the “Gods” behind the RNG, who touch the dice to keep bringing it back to us so soon each time.
